I'm sure you all know what this is a re-work of:~ love this ! Erm 'Thank Ye'! - That has 'made my day! ... 'tis an 'oldie' - After 'The Birth of Venus' by Sandro Botticelli. (It depicts the goddess Venus, having emerged from the sea as a full grown woman etc.), after Andy Warhol (his silkscreen), worked on in Adobe Photoshop on an olde PC nearly 10 years ago now by yours truly! - I was obviously having a 'good day' then ... Showing it here now might invite 'copyright' issues though?! - Erk! - I hope not?! Phew etc.

Took these last Friday up on Offa's Dyke! - BUT I'm not happy with them ... Digital cameras can't cope with a decent amount of contrast and the Panasonic DMC-LX2 I took them with doesn't take a Graduated Filter (for ye of a photographic persuasion) ... I also messed up the White Balance too (as usual) ... All of this makes me more than ever respectful of past photographers like Edwin Smith and James Ravilious who shunned colour, preferring to ruin their health and eyesight in the darkroom to produce their infinitely superior B/W prints ... Any (constructive) suggestions on what I can do to improve my feeble efforts always welcome?! Dum de dum etc. p.s. Edwin Smith's photography here:~ http://www.weepingash.co.uk/new/photogs/es/es-index/73-edwin-smith-photographs Here's the one for James Ravilious:~ http://www.jamesravilious.com/gallery.asp

Can't reveal too much at this stage, but some of my latest work is on display in London on 1st November. It's a one-off show called Warning Signs, sponsored by the P40B Art Collective. You'll find the details here: [liNK REMOVED BECAUSE IT'S BROKEN]

too much but never enough

Hi Lex
Your web server is very badly configured - that link attempts to download a PHP file (rather than parse it) and even then the PHP file is actually a PDF file with a .php extension.

Excellent work @MDAA! - It has a feeling of flux/motion for this viewer, if you will pardon the observation - dare I say it a night seascape even? ... I'm sure it has very interesting textures - looks very tactile ... can we have it in higher resolution and a title too, pretty please?! Creativity - don'tchya love it?! Chris.

BUCKLAND BARK Here's a rather pleasing ( to my mind ) slightly colour-saturated close-up photo of a yew-tree's bark -think this is going to end up as an acrylic / canvas piece. Steve http://mydogateart.blogspot.com

Collective-Era
|
This is a recently finished collaborative painting by Collective-Era. We worked on it on two panels which got swapped around during its creation. The result is that we can display it in two different layouts. 'Era-Two' Layout One 'Era-Two' Layout Two You really need to see them bigger to get all the detail. You can see larger versions on our newly overhauled website: http://www.collective-era.com

Erm, 'Long time no see' Folks?! ... I love this thread (and forum!) and thought I'd add another of my feeble attempts at (digital) photography ... The Technical Info and Meta Data (for those interested), of the above image is:~ Panasonic DMC-LX2 Digital Compact, 9:16 Aspect Ratio, f8 Aperture, 0.4s Exposure (1/3 sec) ... On a Benbo Trekker tripod ... Captured/Composed/Shot looking North-West towards Boney Well (Spring) at Richards Castle on the Herefordshire/Shropshire Border, Sunday 21st June 2009. My composition was later sent to a friend who happens to live in the Philippines ... As another convert to Lovely Linux, he expertly edited/transformed it into B/W, presumably with the Gimp ... I was impressed, so I 'returned the favour' by posting it on a Website Forum we both use - For 'geeky'-types (i.e. too 'dry' perhaps for Artists), but that is not really relevant, eh?! - Art is for the dissemination of ideas, eh?! Incidentally, I've been lucky enough to have recently been given access to a wonderful 1950s vintage Yashica Twin Lens Reflex Medium Format 'Oldee Stylee' Retro (Film) Camera!!! - It shoots using 120 film of course, and I'm awaiting the arrival of some (B/W) Ilford Delta 100asa to start on my own personal road to 'Medium Format B/W Nirvana'. The format of this splendid piece of kit produces square images, which take a bit of getting used to, but using a standard lens there is a welcome absence of Perspective Distortion for Architectural shots! Viewed through the top, when on a tripod, the camera itself captures images from a lower viewpoint, with a different perspective to the one we are usually used to - This is not what I would have approved of initially, but I'm 'getting my head around' this, and bearing in mind the previously mentioned lack of Perspective Distortion, it seems to be acceptable ... 'Tilt and Shift' lenses get around this even better, but are way out of my price range, sadly ... If any of you are also interested in this almost forgotten 'niche' area of photography, I'd love to see/hear/read your thoughts/comments and (constructive) suggestions?! - Images too? - Go on, post 'em here?! - I'm sure PW would approve?! Ciao 4 now, Chris. p.s. In case some of you haven't seen it, here's one of our hero, looking supremely cool :~ http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art/features/hoppy-against-tyranny-talking-about-a-revolutionary-1713772.html?action=Popup&ino=3
