Against the Digital Economy Bill

Petition to abolish the proposed law that will see alleged illegal filesharers disconnected from their broadband connections, without a fair trial

Against the Digital Economy Bill (Facebook Page)

The online petition has an amazing 25,790 signatories at time of writing.  Please go and add to it.

As most of you know, I work as a Web Manager, and have been working in the "Digital Economy" since 1996. The proposed bill will take the UK into a Digital Dark Ages.

It's stupid, doesn't make technical sense, and is unworkable.

It's the result of lobbying of government by "old media" company executives who are desperately trying to save their huge salaries (money they prevent from reaching musicians).

It does nothing to protect musicians or artists (the record companies aren't interested in protecting musicians - they're interested in protecting record company executives).
