The Children of Winter
Image Description
A female-presenting figure stands in darkness, holding a branch in their left hand as a staff. What can be seen of their face and body is daubed in painted lines and symbols, in a deep indigo colour.
On their head appear to be antlers fashioned from small twisted branches of a tree, and around their neck is a golden torc and a roughly-fashioned twine necklace on which hang two corvid skulls.
Artist’s Notes
We are the wolves that haunt you on the coldest days, when the frost bites hardest.
We are the Last of England.
There will be no rebirth,
no new society rising,
only the endless fear of the hunt.
Do not dare to dream of the Spring.
We are the Children of Winter.
