Chapter XII - Hinterlands of the Mind
The extent of my research has spread from the classical esoterica to gnostic epistles in any field.
They inhabit the hinterlands of the mind—the barren places and the abandoned ruins of memories nearly forgotten. These are the less-travelled paths, not the oft-revisited misdemeanours and conscience-wracked edifaces. They were a half-shadow moving obliquely across an almost forgotten remembrance of a room; an old face faded to obscurity; a past terror no longer dwelled upon.
Until I broke their rules and stared too intently into those forgotten places.
