Mab (England’s Dark Dreaming № 10)

This is the tenth large-scale charcoal drawing in my England’s Dark Dreaming series.
Queen Mab is an English folkloric figure particularly connected to dreams. She is described in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet as “the fairies' midwife.”
Mab here is antlered, denoting power (similar to the symbolism of the horns on Michelangelo’s Moses) rather than evil, as well as connecting her to the animal world.
