Ritual, Part IV (England’s Dark Dreaming № 15)

This is the fifteenth large-scale charcoal drawing in my England’s Dark Dreaming series.
This is the fourth and final drawing of the mini-series of “Ritual” drawings.
The “cave paintings” in the drawing are mostly stencilled hands, which tend to be from the Paleolithic, but there are also two Cup-and-Ring marks which is a design that dates from the Early Neolithic (carved rather than painted) and can be found in several places in Britain.
In comparison to Ritual, Part III, where the blade of the sickle infers death or violence, in this drawing the ritual has taken a less violent and more creative direction.
