There is a great power in a deliberate temporal dissonance that stops you in your tracks and forces you to reassess. The TV series Britannia did it wonderfully, combining Celts and Romans with psychedelic rock (and so I’m delighted that it will be back for a second series, and if we don’t…
As work steps up on my new series of artwork, Acid Renaissance: Albion’s True Standard Advanced, it’s about time I provided an update on the ideas and thinking behind it.
First of all, Acid Renaissance is not a fantasy series. It certainly borrows quite a few tropes from popular fantasy…
Last week I put up a Twitter poll to gauge the reaction to an idea I had. The question was “Would being able to pay for a piece of my artwork in smaller monthly instalments make you more likely to buy one?”
Would being able to pay for a piece of my artwork in smaller monthly instalments…
I’m just back from a 2-day holiday in Berlin, a city where the ghosts lie close to the surface, cross-hatching the modern city.
On Friday I walked for hours following the ghostline of the Berlin Wall, a strange and sombre journey taking in the Holocaust Memorial, the Brandenburg Gate, the…
I wanted to do a quick review of the artwork I’ve produced this year, not just to show it all to you, but also for my own benefit: as an artist sometimes you forget how much work you’ve actually done because you’re too busy concentrating creating the next thing.

That’s the entire edition printed.:)
They were too big for my press (the print itself is 16”x12” and the paper around 26”x20”) so I had to hand-press them using a pin press, which is like a solid metal rolling pin.
I’ll try to get a decent photograph tomorrow and then I need to start…
Yes, it’s another Badb Catha/Crow Lady piece - the character fascinates me.
Background now sketched in for the new 16”x12” (~40cm x 30cm) linocut. This is going to be a bastard to cut.
So far I have cut the sky/branches/clouds in the top of the lino (AKA “the easy bit”)…
